Best way to not get caught is to not commit a crime. I guess he thought he was invincible. The "tuggz" in lockup will teach him otherwise now.

I'm amazed though that with the alleged claims of the crimes committed and amount of monies mentioned that he was only charged with those simple larceny, etc. I guess I don't fully understand the meaning of those charges. Then again, the bigger charges are probably waiting for him in the US and Cayman. I wonder if there's a bigger man behind it?

During yesterday's bail application, Tom Tavares-Finson complained that during his client's arrest the police allowed a Digicel technician access to his computer for "quite a while".

That's it right there. The police have botched the case for the prosecution. They allowed a civilian to tamper with evidence before it was properly secured. Nothing they found there is credible in court of law now. Chain of custody was broken.

How on earth can you let one of the complainants have free reign on the suspect's computer for an extended period of time? How does the police know that the Digicel technician didn't plant something on the man's computer now? At the very least, he has compromised the evidence, and possible destroyed some evidence.

The police need better training in the handling of digital evidence. They aren't ready for prime time. They have just handed the accused a get out of jail free ticket.

You can already see the lawyers building the case for dismissal.

The fact still remains that he was being investigated for 2 years, they obviously had something on him. Not to mention the complaints.

I can tell you that these reports try to let the JA investigators look like they actually caught the guy, but from stuff i have seen in the past. They just "buck" up on the whole find. maybe he was being investigated at work and they went to his house and found a lot more. I know of a case where the police went to crack down on a man selling DVD and found more than they even thought. and then they let it seem that they were investigating him and found lots of other things.

Jamaican police dont investigate. they dont use their Heads on cases, they just wait on evidence to fall in their lap. hence the 33% conviction rate in Jamaica

I'm interested to see how this turns out, here's a little quote from today's observer
Tavares-Finson said he was interested to see how the Crown will proceed with the case against his client in the absence of any cyber laws

You seem to forget Cayman and US authorities are interested in him, perhaps they played a role in his capture.
