Yes my dear friends and collegues. You can run ASP, not ASP.NET, on a linux machine with 3rd party software. I have it running on my Mandrake machine with APACHE and playing with my asp scripts.

MadHacker mentioned ChiliASP. It's not called ChiliASP anymore. It's called Sun ONE ASP from Sun. I find that they support the ASP syntax more closely than any other software.

You can try the developers version of the software, to see how it works and if your scripts run on it, before buying it.

Anyways, this is a bit off-topic. SO back to your regular scheduled thread!!

I also found a solution to using ASP on Linux: an apache mod that allows you to run asp but only allowing you sto script in perl.

But I still have a problem: my work place uses VBScript for doign ASP pages. Do any of these solutions support VBScript?

Yes nder. SunOne ASP does support VBScript. But I don't think 100%. You will have to go through thier document to see what they support and don't support.

Seriously though, I would like to learn something here....why would you want to run ASP on lix? Is it like a problem where someone has pt a gun to your head and say "Run ASP on linux, we don't have time to conver to PHP! "??

Probably for migration reasons. If you have tons of code invested in asp recoding all of that in php or whatever else to work on nix may be costly and time consuming.

I'd say leave ASP on the Windows box where it belongs and invest in that since asp and .NET currently run better on the windows platform.
Those who do not understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it poorly.
