    Yep sounds like a hardware issue. Have u tried a different Monitor or VGA cable. Or even installed a discrete GFX card in the PCI slot?
    Also it is the summer, so ensure that there is no heat or dust issue.

    It's an irregular issue; it just happens sometimes. Would have to source a card first...

    I wasn't even thinking of it being summer, and I've lost a PC and two CRTs in previous years during the summer. Worse, the current PCs run just about constantly and they don't have any extra fans/AC to cool them. They're overdue some cleaning too... gotta get me some canned air.
