In such a case, the free email service will already scan the file for viruses. Ie. hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail. Anyone sending me attachments I would direct them to email me at those addresses.

My email service is using gmail as the backend. So getting infected attachments are pretty low.

But if I DO happen to get such an attachment that is infected, last resort would be to scan it with 1 of the free online scanners.

I haven't gotten a virus for over 10 years now. No thanks to my anti-virus, but to my safe browsing and computing. Your regular computing habits will have to change when you are not using an anti-virus.

Not planning to install an anti-virus anytime soon. I am enjoying the lack of it. Gonna stay AV-less.

AVG is an excellent product. I tried Avira and realized AVG did a better job with some viruses.

Been doing that since lord knows how long now. AV proggs are quite resource hungry so I didn't like them very much, in the pre-1GB RAM days. Never looked back since

The no-AV users are coming out of the wood work. I know there are many more of you out there.

I'm in the 2nd week of using no anti-virus and I'm going good. In fact, my pc has improved since removing my anti-virus. My programs use to lockup when I open my email or browser or IM client for the first time, after turning on my pc. Realized it was my anti-virus that did it.
