I would like to overcome the xbox 360's internet protocol (ip) region restrictions by using a U.S. proxy server in the router through which the xbox360 is conected to the web. Has anyone done anything like this before, if so could you tell me the steps to follow and which address and port to be used.Any advice would be appreciated.

The reason why i am asking about the whole proxy server setup is that i want to be able to download gears of war 2 multi-player maps, but if there is also a way to get access to the maps without going through the trouble of setting up a proxy server any help with that would also be appreciated.

Where are you located? Is your location set to US in the Xbox settings?

Default The problem is not the location of the live account

Yes the address on my live profile is set to an address in the United States, but that is not the problem. I can get on to xbox live fine and I have access to most download able content, the problem is that I cannot access certain download able content because xbox live checks the ip address of the xbox detects that it is not based in the U.S and so blocks me from downloading the content.

Oh ok. I haven't tried to bypass that yet, but I'm guessing that the easiest way would be to connect the xbox through the PC with internet sharing and then use a proxy from there.

Default Yeah i figured that could be the solution

Yeah i did some research and that seems to be the most appropriate solution, i just wondered if anyone knew exactly what steps to take in setting up a proxy server on the computer.

Try HotspotShield. It's free and easy to use.
