    Default Core i5 750 2.66GHz Available at Fry's Electronics

Early arrival of the LGA 1156 generation

Today, our friends at BrightSideofNews reported that Intel’s retail channel partner and major technology redistributor Fry’s Electronics has already begun to sell the upcoming Core i5 quad-core Lynnfield processor series.

As the story goes, Intel’s socket LGA 1156 Lynnfield platform isn’t scheduled to make an official debut until Sunday, September 6th. However, Fry’s Electronics currently lists the Core i5 750 2.66GHz quad-core, 4-threaded processor for $205 on both its website and its retail channels. In other words, the LGA 1156 generation and Lynnfield platform have made an early arrival in both the United States and Taiwan.

probably. since that would cannibalize their own sales of i5s. it was just a marketing gimmick anyway. it was just to get people to come in the store, a loss leader.
