Question Microsoft Already Starting on Windows 8

How will Windows 7 perform? Will it be faster and more stable than Vista? Will it address all of Vista's shortcomings? Of course, we all know that Windows 7 is an evolution on Vista. Despite lingering doubts, those who have tried the public beta of Windows 7 already claim that it's one of Microsoft's best operating systems yet.

That's a great thing to hear because Microsoft is actually already starting to work on Windows 8.

Hold on there. Microsoft is on the ball already.

They haven't even released Windows 7 (so I can point out all the bugs), yet they've outdone themselves with (the thought of)Windows 8.

This interests me greatly, as I see potential for this achievement.

In that case, I'll help them write Windows 9, 10, and 11 then.

Interesting. Could they be trying to rival Ubuntu or some other Linux distro releases ? Not gonna happen !

i think it's way too early to speculate what this even means.. windows xp is out for how many years? and we know win7 is what vista was supposed to be so..
i'm being conservative with the expectation that it's atleast 3-5 years before next major OS.
for all we know, windows 8 could be server only

Are you a developer or programmer? Oh, sorry, notice that you were just joking. Anyway, this is norm for companies with major products and release cycle. But if you think about it logically, what would you be doing with those developers that have completed their assignments on a specific project such as Windows 7? Well, if you ask me, get them to work immediately on the next iteration.

Just to Add too what Zandex said, at this point the feature-set of Windows 7 is complete, the different builds are pretty much about improving efficiency, fixing bugs, tightening security etc...
it doesn't surprise me at all the there 'development' has started for the next version of windows.

I would assume that these are ideas on a chalkboard at Redmond.. well probably presentation slide since this is a Tech company (whiteboard at least). I assume this because RC has just been released, it is the greater feedback on this build that will probably curve the direction of Microsoft's next OS.

u know it takes many years to build an os but from what i gather windows 8 wont hit for maybe 2-3 years to come and u have to take in adaptation time

i think honestly vista and windows 7 are it for me now

i like xp but it doesnt give me full use of my hardware

i wanna go full windows 7 but its not out yet

    both vista and win 7?
do you mean until Win7 RTM (retail)
or that you'll continue to use both products even after WIN7 RTM?
