    Default Compiz Fusion error in Ubuntu

    I installed Ubuntu 8.10 recently and i'm trying to enable the desktop effects using compiz-fusion. However, after downloading, i consistently get this error.

    Any ideas as to how this can be resolved?

    1. What steps did you use to install compiz?
    2. Are you using standard Ubuntu or Kubuntu?

    1. Applications -> add/remove applications->Search "compiz"->download compiz desktop effects.

    2. Standard Ubuntu 8.10

    WINE already installed.

    The normal method of installing compiz is through Synaptic or Apt-get. My assumption is that some dependency was not installed or it's trying to run some command that's not downloaded yet.

    The reason I asked about Kubuntu is that you have a KdeSudo error, which should only occur when KDE is installed. It could be KdeSudo needs to be installed for some reason and it's not found. Check it's status in Synaptic.

    Ok, it worked through synaptic. Thanks. Fooling around with the various effects now.

    In compizconfig-settings-manager, enable “Opacity, Brightness and Saturation,” and press New under “Window Specific Settings.” Now, copy this code into the first field:

    Tooltip | Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu

    Change the value to somewhere between 75 and 85 for some nice transparent effects.
