Just to add my $0.02 cents to the convo.
I played UT 2003 on Dell's LCD screens over a LAN and also played it with Dell's CRT monitors. We did a side by side comparison of both and looking at them you could see the difference between the two. The CRT monitors were more colorful and detailed than the LCD's. The graphics were much better on the CRT's. Not to mention it being slightly sluggish on an LCD monitor as was mentioned.
LCD's are not suited for game play if you are a hard core gamer. But if you don't really care much for the detailed graphics, it can work.
From what I have heard, the only reason you would choose an LCD over a CRT monitor is because LCD's take up less space on the desk and it just looks better than a CRT monitor.
I am using a flat screen (not an LCD) monitor and it's nice. Haven't done a comparison between a CRT and a flat screen so I can't say how they compare, but the graphics look great when playing games on it.
