Gotta agree with Technoboy, hope your wife doesnt find an 18" to be too Huge.
But I prefer the HP, lovin its specs over the AW(Quad core, 500GB HDD, Subwoofer, E-Sata, 2 headphone jacks, 4 USB ports). The AW doesnt seem like a desktop replacement which is what most 17" and 18" aim to be.

    1920 X 1080 full hd resolution+hd3650=ice cold laptop.
Thx. Actually its a 16" at 1600x900 rez, they just put the full HD sticker on all these models, dunno why.

(it's a studio xps 16, also brought to my attention by wisdom!), but then I found out that the Sony FW390 was out... which... I understand... is basically the 290 series but a bit cheaper w/ the same specs:

But man... one thing that kinda ticks me off about sony is that you can't see your built-in-cam resolution, for example (i don't even see where it tells me that the computer has one), or if the speakers have a built in subwoofer. Also... knowing I coulda gotten a free 150$ value digital photo frame if I bought it 2 weeks ago kinda irks me as well... (current promos are lame).
Dude give us an update, which did you go with and how you liking it?
    Sony VAIO FW290 FW510: C2D P8600(2.4GHz), 4GB DDR2(800MHz), 250GB HDD(5400rpm), ATI HD 4650(512MB GDDR3), Blu-Ray Combo(BD-ROM/DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/RAM)
