Default Operating Frequency Bands of Lime, Digicel & Claro

What are the operating frequency bands (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA) of the mobile carriers in Jamaica?

    Default Summary (INCOMPLETE)

Based on the above, you will need the below network bands present on your mobile phone to be fully compatible with the networks in JAMAICA (assuming 3G is available on all networks and you want access to this feature). However, when roaming, depending on the operating frequency for the service provider the network bands required may be different.

Digicel: GSM 900/1800 MHZ, UMTS 900 MHZ

Lime: GSM 850/1900 MHZ, UMTS 850/1900 MHZ

Claro: GSM 850/1900 MHZ, UMTS 850/1900 MHZ

Correct where necessary and I will edit. Based on the country-based frequency found online, Jamaica's operating frequency is GSM 850,900/1800/1900 MHZ, UMTS 850/1900/2100, therefore, mobile operators should be within this specification. In a nutshell, it's best if the network bands present on the phone are quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA.

Like how you dont have UMTS with 2100 MHZ does that mean it wont work at all in jamaica? Or you not sure about Digi?

UMTS is available in 850/900/1700/1900/2100. I'm not sure about digicel, just trying to compile the correct information on the required network bands for mobile phones in Jamaica to operate on all the current networks.

This thread will be useful as it will help all those people who are still confused about GSM/3G
A jus wish one of those mobile carriers operated 3g on the 2100Mhz band as that is the only one my phone supports now. The next phone i am buying going be Quad GSM & Tri HSDPA so once it unlocked i can through in any chip and it works perfectly

I am almost sure that LIME will be operating 3Gs at 900/2100MH. However, the bigger the number is the weaker the frequency. So the bandwidths are, 850/900/1900/2100 with the lower numbers being the stronger frequencies.

So can any quad band phone that works with Digicel and C&W also work with Claro? Explain any additional standards which may be needed to access Claro service features, such as 3g and so on.

For changing their manners and altering their customs, there is nothing better than music.

I spoke to a Lime representative from the mobile department yesterday and it was confirmed that the network band required for 3G is 850/1900 MHZ.

900/2100 MHZ for 3G is the Europe/Asia operating frequency.
