Yeah Duster "Kilaj1" has always recommended that after you make a thread like this you lock and there have been threads going on forever asking about salary almost like jobs are so abundant in Jamaica but then you have to look on it from this stand point if the job is pay $25,000 before tax when the individual factors in transportation and food alone thats basically $10,000 is not more out of the same monthly salary and due to things like JPS estimated bills and giving you a electric bill of all $5000 even though you barely at home by time you quint the salary cannot take care of your expenses so might as well you stay home. So knowing the salary up front is good for some people due to their circumstances and also I would appreciate if you people stop comparing a Developed country to a Developing country it gets annoying because the circumstances are totally different and anyone with knowledge and experience with the social, economical and job system in both countries would know that.

Anubis let me clear this up just incase you are refering to my comment about the united states. my comparison must be taken in context. when i made the comparison im refering to the view of the employer. I dont think it matters if your country is a developing or developed if someone is offering employment and the most important and only concern of the applicant is "How much is this job paying?" then why should i as an employer be excited about you as a prospective employee. There are millions of other candidates who are concern not only about the salary but about advancement opportunities, growth, benefits, company success, personal development, meeting organization goals & providing excellent constomer service as well. again this shouldnt matter wheather you are in spain/ africa/america or jamaica. we all know salary is important but you dont let the employer know that in most cases if you do great work you will be rewarded accordingly. Its like going on a first date and asking the woman how much times a week she ago give you the front! We all know say at the end of the day that whats important but come on!!!

dwl hilarious that is.. however notwithstanding he does have a valid point any employer would be somewhat skeptical if a prospective employee utmost concern is salary especially before other details are discussed or taken in consideration....what impression will the employer have about you? Even if salary is your only concern don`t make it so obvious to the employer....u can`t put butter a puss mouth....think about it

well, I'm just an individual who's really pushing/advocating for salary amounts to be ALWAYS clearly stated for any vacant position by companies. Just like you or anyone would prefer to see the price of a car or real estate being stated among its description or preferring to know the name of the organization that's posting the vacancy.
I just feel this levels 'the playing field' a bit more (among other benefits) and also gives the employer a more professional appearance.
For far too long businesses in our country have been knowingly underpaying their qualified employees simply because the individual was ignorant about the correct amount of compensation he/she should receive or should have asked for.
Well I say no more. No more I say!lol

Well I understand where you are coming from don't get that twisted I was just stating the practicality and I guess reality of how some people would view the whole situation thats all. But how many people you know looks for a job with the companies success in mind or the providing customers service honestly now if they contribute to the companies success they it would look good on them thus leading to a possible promotion which thus is an increase in pay or benefits its all a matter of what they can get from the business just like the growth or advancement in opportunities as you mentioned before I have never come across anyone who gets in the business to make it better and has total disregard to beneficial factors in their regards and in most cases people work crazy doing things that they don't have to do and that is not in their job description and still don't get "reward accordingly" but to end this I do understand where you are coming from. And how you reach as far as how much time a week you a guh get some front suppose she had the gold digger and blue balls strategy if you did know from before hand you know to drop her

Well the main details were pointed out the job description and then they were asking about the salary in all honesty which how many jobs that under pay you can afford to provide you with any real benefits excluding work experience which you can place on your resume later on and the wealth of knowledge that you may acquire

Yeah Jamaica is infamous for that instead of employing several people who specify in a area to do specific tasks they try to get one person and bugle up the jobs on him/her so they have several areas covered but only on check to write and of course that person is only getting paid for one of the several posts that he/she is manning and sometimes they are even still under paid well none the less I told my friend to send in his resume because he has no job at the moment and for all those who are in the same position I hope it works out for one of you
