Ok, so Hotmail will no longer be doing this, and Gmail is. I know where my bread is buttered.

Well eager to see this come on mainstream...- Web search leader Google Inc. said on Wednesday it will soon make it possible for users of its Gmail service to check their e-mail via Microsoft Outlook or on certain handheld devices such as mobile phones.
Google (Nasdaq:GOOG - news) said it is adding POP, or point of presence, access to Gmail for all users over the next couple of weeks. The move will enable Gmail users to download a copy of their messages through other e-mail programs and devices that support POP.
Using POP access, Gmail users would also be able to view their messages offline.
Google, which had its much-anticipated initial public offering in mid-August, recently has been adding address book and other features to its advertising-supported Gmail service launched this spring.
Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) and Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news), which compete with Google in Web search, also offer rival free e-mail services.
Google shares, which briefly topped $200 after debuting at $85, were trading around $170 at midday on the Nasdaq.![]()

Hotmail Plus is still available via Outlook and Outlook Express. However you will have to sign-up and pay for the Hotmail Plus service ($20.00) increase in your email box to 2GB.
Spamming of emails has caused several companies to change service offerings, this also includes Microsoft with their Hotmail service.

So do you think Gmail will be free forever? Surely not! I can recall years ago when several Internet emails (POP) were free. Now if I need that service I will have to pay for it or the company just dont exist anymore.
In the long run Gmail eventually start charging for their Email (POP) service or something of that nature. If they dont charge for POP access, then they will kill you with their ads in your Inbox. I guess thats a good trade-off.

No where to run, no where to hide, technology is everywhere...
Gmail my my they are truly making their mark. I have no use for outlook but it will get them into a very valuable market and that's the "microsoft brainwashed group".

Since everyone is trying to beat MS there will be many who will produce better resources.
SO what you are saying is that you wil continue to use something defective just because it is like 'hot bread' than use something useful?Originally Posted by AngelsKiss
