Do you think it makes sense to do the CCNP without any hands on experience? I did my CCNA at home with a router simulator and was planning on doing the same for the CCNP but I am discouraged as no one seems to value my certification and I am even offering myself for free labour or internships without success.
Dont worry some employers are idiots ,you obviously are willing to pay your dues .My advice to you is dont give up someone will see your quality some day.One of the possible reason you are not getting the nod is probably because you lack experience and you can only get that with time .The CCNP is a more indepth certification than most its like four CCNA rolled into one .There are two ways to pass the CCNP do it on your own and study to pass the exam . or go to a formal class and hopefully be properly instructed so that the knowledge you gain can be practiced and becomes a part of you. The second way helps you more in the long run
Are you in JA? What I've noticed with certain people who do CCNA alone is that sometimes they dont market them selves to employers...and yes sometimes employers are just ignorant.
You say you setup simulations at home, was this using Boson or Cisco Academy simulators? or Dynamips.
How are you "selling" your self to potential employers?
Personally, if I used Dynamips you can setup almost real world routers, I would then put that on my rusume as a workexperience/Projects.
Employers like to see that you put your knowledge to some use.
But you should definately not get discouraged by the one and two employers that turn you down.
