people, people, people...............stop bash XP Black nuh. there is nothins wrong with the OS as the core xp files are not tampered with. jeez man

the only thing i dislike is that i dont think any of you have actually tried it out. if you have, then i stand corrected. but dont bash software and you havent even tried it out ur self.

anyways, has anyone thought that there may be something wrong with the registry.

OK you could try that but how would that explain the UNKNOWN registry key that windows keeps on looking for

And how come he could install it on the normal XP without problem if the media was messed up

Plus he reinstalled XP Black already

The truth is I really think the problem was BLACK XP still caused I tried for hours to get pass the registry issue and nothing worked. I even installed Linux's Star Office to see if I could substitute that for Ms Office. Frankly I gave up and removed Black Xp and went back to Xp Home and all the issues were corrected immediately.

Kev, one question? Did Ms Office run on your version of Black Xp?

just to point out that ubuntu doesnt have any probs with ntfs. i have used ubuntu and it mounted all my ntfs partitions without issues. i'm now using kubuntu tripple booted with xp and 2000 server and i have access all my ntfs partitions right off the bat. as mentioned before the partitions wont mount if windows was not shutdown properly or has been set to hibernate.

    How convenient.

Anyways, Black XP was the problem here for Barrettrs and really you have to expect spontaneous problems if you choose to use a modified OS.
