    I read that there was a device that pushed the lan range to 7 km. Which i think is 7000 metres, if my maths is still any good.
    So I figured the lan ranges must be at least 1 km (1000 metrtes).
    Hence my decision. But I could be off my rockers since I know nothing of wireless network ranges.
