    Default Strange IE error message

Recently, I've been getting an occasional error message dialog box in IE 6 and then when I click the OK button all windows of IE close. The error message is:

dialog box title: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
    message:
    Runtime error!

    Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

    R6025
    - pure virtual call"

    My O/S: Windows 2Ksp3

Any idea what's the problem here?

I suspect it's related to LOMS or lack of mozilla syndrome.
Luckily this is easily fixed by a quick visit to http://www.mozilla.org

An added plus is that you'll be familiar with a browser that is many times more feature rich than IE and will serve you when you move over to Linux

Hey Chris had this problem with some Clients running MS Word 2000.....
Turned out the problem was with the anti-virus programme.....

I was recently reading Experts-Exchange tech forums same issue with Explorer....
Try following steps to resolve problem.....Hope this works..

    1) Select “Tools/Internet Options/Advanced” from the Menu Bar at the top of the browser window.

    2) Under “Browsing”, CHECK the box that is captioned “Disable Script Debugging”

    3) Click on “Apply” at the lower right of the dialog window.

    4) Click “OK” to exit the window

pigeonflight - one of these days my friend, one of these days

Tech_Guru - thanks for the tip. I went through to follow the steps and saw that the “Disable Script Debugging” check-box was already checked/enabled, so my settings were already setup as you're suggesting they should be.

Do you have Visual Basic Runtime 6 instaled, I had similar problems with some softwares (not IE) and I got that and my problems were over. Try it, it might just be what your looking for... ;D

Ropy, I'm a little unclear. Should I get it installed? What is it used for?

ok guys. I'm posting this message using ... you guessed it ... Mozilla! I finally decided to try it out (again) so I'll let you know what's my take on it. One little thing that kinda bug me so far is the "transferring data from www.whatever.com..." at the bottom of the screen. It gives me the impression that the page is still loading ... ???

[/quote]Yes it does that sometimes. I also dislike when I visit a website that has a midi set to play on the page, that mozilla starts to download like it was an exe file and then opens winamp to play it, instead of downloading it in the background and then playing it like IE does.

I am hoping they fix that soon.
