Digicel announces GPRS rates in Barbados

Well all bajans knew it was coming. The days of free GPRS are numbered. As of November 1st the following rates apply:

DIGISELECT POSTPAID:

Picture Messaging $0.75 per message
WAP $0.01 per Kb

FOR the Web Access

MB cost per mb
0 to 1 9.50
1 to 2 7.50
2 to 10 6.00
10 to 25 3.00
25mb+ 2.00

$1.00 BBD = $30.2525 JMD

So how do these rates compare to those currently in Jamaica?

Right now the price for web access is higher than C&W for sure. C&W is 8.00 per month for 0 to 1 MB.....

Digicel still has not mentioned anything about providing GPRS for prepaid customers so i don't know what the hold up is there..

it comes easier, but the expenses over there are very high, so it balances out

Yup, pretty much everything here in Barbados is extremely expensive, most Bajans go Trinidad to do most of their shopping for stuff like clothes, etc.

SO it was no surprise that the rates we get charged are higher than Jamaica.
