Without AMD competing in the high end price wont go down on the 1080. See the new titan is $1200 up from $1000 to make way for the $1000 1080ti

I actually agree with pezz on this one. Look how long it tek maxwell prices to drop and it not even drop that much over the years. Your just going to have to look out for those black Friday deals and be lucky to find one at the MSRP price or wait and see what AMD Vega will have to offer next year.

Default 1070 and ultra wide monitor

Went with 1070 got it on sale for 390 . 1080 isn't worth paying almost 300 bucks more over a 1070.

I also picked up a 34" 3440x1440 21:9 Ultra Wide LG monitor . I was thinking about getting the curved model but I don't think it would hold up well over time.

Nice! but why wouldn't the curve monitor hold up over time?

Good choice on gpu. 1080 is a rip off

I dont like curved monitors either. The effective size is actually smaller because of the curve
