It's another programming language like c++. I think it's a propriety language for Borland just as how C# and VB.Net are propriety to Microsoft. It's stillin use, but I doubt it's used here in Jamaica. So If you looking for a language to learn, Delhi might not be it.

It's centered around Object Pascal and is targeted now towards ISVs and MicroISVs.

yup.. delphi definitely has its roots in pascal.

I wouldn't discourage anybody from trying to learn it, it shouldn't be hard to learn and I know of at least 1 big financial institution out here that uses it.

Quite so.. Delphi is a good intro into OOP.. I wonder if person are still learing Pascal.. Personally. I think Pascal is still bettr at teaching data structures than C

Algorithms too. One thing I found annoying with C/C++ and derivatives was Type to Identifier declaration. Always found it more natural to declare the identifier then specify its type.

its a more wordy form of C++ except with better string and object support. begin...end tags instead of {...}. The dos turbo pascal 7 is still quite useful although not officially update, there are also opensource versions/forks of it available
