    Default 'US $100 laptop' could be a must have!

    I am pleased to see that this project was not scrapped. Who knows I might by faith just get one.

    Design revamp for '$100 laptop'

    The XO2 looks and acts like an electronic book
    The wraps have been taken off the new version of the XO laptop designed for schoolchildren in developing countries.

    The revamped machine created by the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project looks like an e-book and has had its price slashed to $75 per device.

    OLPC founder Nicholas Negroponte gave a glimpse of the "book like" device at an unveiling event at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

    The first XO2 machines should be ready to deliver to children in 2010.

    they were making some cheap laptops so that children in the primary and lower could get them, these are cheap laptops as you see the price and outside appearance, But it was said that they wernt gona bother with the programme but it semms like a change of mind or sponser so its back on track.

    I have one of the ASUS EEE's... going for about $350 right now I think... far better than the OLPC in terms of value for money but not the best laptop in terms of resolution... they could have done better even with the low price tag

    the one I have has;
    7" screen (resolution 800*480)
    4 GB solid state drive
    1 GB ram
    wifi / nic / 2 USB ports
    dont remember the processor speed
    running winXP... not the linux distro they included with it.
