    Default Deleted File

A friend of mine accidentally deleted a folder with some pictures on a Windows Server 2003 machine. It wouldn't have gone to the recycle bin becuz of it's size; How can that folder be restored? I've looked at a software called Undelete plus but nothing is happening. He's suggesting System Restore but i don't know of System Restore retrieving deleted documents.
    So What's next...suggestions....anybody?

You can try getting recovery software from ontrack. For some reason i doubt system restore would give back the files but who knows.

There are altot of applications out there that can recover deleted files. I used one called "Recover My Files" (u can google for it) and it worked for me. Ive never tried recovering anything larger than the recycle bin size but u can try anyways.

System Restore doesnt recover deleted files.

GetDataBack is also pretty good. Restored my files after a reformat. It's not free though.

i tend to disagree that system restore would not work. i have uses it b4 and it have worked for me. as matter of fact, after reading this thread i tried....... n it worked!! wasnt a large file, but i used shift_del........ wouldnt hurt to try if he has a recent restore point.

and if i'm remembering correctly, while installing XP, it was saying if you delete a file accidentally u can use system restore......

Most if not all times user data such as music, videos and image files are not restored via system restore. I guess if you want to test it you can go ahead.
