dont bother with any hard drive less than 500GB. theyre around $80 now and falling. i have an X2 but lord X2s are so old now. dont even bother with that. and they want $150 for an 6400+ for that money you can get a E8200 which kicks its *** every day of the week. if you do AMD its gotta be Phenom. nothing else is worth it. in about a month new videocards gonna be out which are gonna make the older cards even cheaper than they are now and the new ones will probably be twice as fast. i'd wait that out unless you find a 8800GT 512MB for US$100.

first thing techdude try and stretch you pocket some more about a $300 an set the budget to $1000 ($700+$300= $1000) as a back up trust me you might need it.

now i see you have select case already, good choice+nice cooling system. there is no looking back, all you need for it now is two more tri-cool 120mm fans,

    case
    2 tri-cool 120 mm fans

i choose a cpu heat sink and fan (hsf) for you thermal grease is arctic silver

that done now for memory and cpu + mobo, these you need to consider clearly, listen to your conscience and feed your desire
I Now Have the Highest OC on Techja 4.2Ghz

    DJ_WOW's best choices!

    first read this:

    CPU SCALING IN GAMES!

    http://www.guru3d.com/article/cpu-sc...re-processors/

    that said

    CPU
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115052

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 45nm CPU clocked at 2.53Ghz.

    Motherboard
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059

    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L

Best budget board out there, google reviews for it.

I would get the GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L since its to replace the previous one, but thats me.

It is better to go intel, better bang for ur bucks, especially looking at that article about CPU scalling. CPU's are becoming VERY IMPORTANT for games, the trend is changing.

    Also, review of the E7200!!!
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...duo-e7200.html

    Board Review!!!
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mai...-p35-ds3l.html

This is by far THE MOST POPULAR intel motherbord currently.

Alright i hear ya right there. No less than 500GB. Drop the X2
Leaning towards the Phenom for processor tho, cuz i've been living around Intel too long now and i just wanna try out AMD.

I like the advice on the Memory, Processor + Mobo. Got some time to think thoroughly, so i'm gonna do that.

that mobo is an AM2 one. it doesnt have HT3 or split power planes. doesnt enable all the features of the Phenom. you need an AMD 780G, 770, 790X or 790FX board. or Nvidia 780a. boards with those chipsets are AM2+. which is what the phenom is.

    Asus M3A Deluxe Wifi - $230

Fry's had that board for $100 yesterday. Killer deal.

    AMD 770 boards

    790x boards

    790fx boards

    nvidia 780a

    nvidia 750a
