    hmmm what's the difference this has kde and ubuntu doesn't?

    What kde stands for? And are you using Kubuntu? How does it look compare to ubuntu?

    KDE stands for K Desktop Environment

    It is the K equivalent to Gnome, which is/are desktop environments (in Windows, you have Explorer and Lightstep for example). The K environment uses more resources than Gnome and looks a lot more like Windows than Gnome.
