    Hope this is not stale news but...

    Apple has recommended that iPhone 3G users should charge their handsets via a USB cable attached to a computer rather than using the wall socket plug that shipped with the device. The plug, the company says, could snap off, exposing the user to possible electric shock. Apple will begin issuing new wall socket chargers beginning on Oct. 10.

    Apple has recalled the new ultracompact universal serial bus (USB) adapter plug that shipped with millions of iPhone 3G. The plugs, according to the device maker, can snap off so that the blades remain inside an electrical outlet, creating a risk of electric shock.
