Default Do you use Group Policy Objects?

    I am curious.

Does anyone use group policy objects with Windows 2000? From what I have seen, most companies use Windows 2000 just like they used NT 4.0.

They aren't making use of the active directory and GPO's.

What are you guys doing with Windows 2000?

I only use Windows 2000 pro for my desktop, but then again ... you're probably asking about Windows 2000 server, so don't mind me ;D.

My guess would be that they don't see it necessary to use Active Directory... or find it to bothersome to use fro their needs.

    Funny enough...

I am studying for MCSE (Active Directory), and was considering implimenting it here at work, seeing that I use Windows 2000 server as the OS for the server (May change it to a linux platform soon depending on which one is better).

So really right now it is not being implimented.

Nastro, my sly comment was in relation to what you said that you're using Win 2K server and that you may change it to Linux depending on which one is better. Well I'm guessing that you'll find that Linux is better

To be fair, I work with both Windows 2000 and Linux. My real problem with Windows is the cost.

I have customers who use Windows 2000 in some demanding environments and it has proven to be quite stable. This includes running applications over a frame relay from rural branches.

It is just that each server will cost at least USD 2,500.00 (hardware) and USD 1,000.00 (software). My good friends at Microsoft are always watching so I have to be legal.

I won't even start talking about the cost of purchasing Exchange or SQL Server. Ever wonder why Bill Gates is the richest man in the world?
