Hi, recently every time i click on a link, a url, i have to do it multiple times, like 8-10 times before the page actually starts to load. For eg, i have to reload google.com like 7 times b4 the page comes up. What's causing that?

We thought it was a net problem but we tried using this ubuntu cd thing and everything works fine.

This happens in internet explorer, firefox and opera.

    Too clicky perhaps?

At what point does the status bar on the bottom of the app change to "sending request to..", or "connecting to.." ?

You are not going to believe this, we checked the startup items using tuneup utilities and it showed some thing name trojan horse system(three of those) and trojan horse service(two of those) in startup items.

We disabled them and browsing seems normal now but avast doesn't detect anything. We are going to try another antivirus.

I would recommend using anti-spyware as well as anti-virus.

Do a search for spyware on the forum to find some recommendations.

It sounds as if you have some spyware on your machine. These are different from virus infections.

BTW, I would believe it. In my opinion, spyware infections have become a bigger problem than virus infections.

    People still get viruses?

If you check it out...most of the things that come up as Trojans are actually spyware/malware apps.

There really aren't any true viruses anymore. Heuristics for any anti-viri app picks up TRUE viruses with ease. The replication and desctruction nature are easily stopped. Todays biggest threats are spyware/malware.

I HAVE TO AGREE and that sounds like a spyware problem not trojan. if that was a trojan umm the rest would prob be history.

try downloading ShelExView - execute it and disable all non-micrsoft items. then enable each -one @ a time- and try to link. if your problem doesn't arise then enable each until you find the one causeing it and them deal with that program by either uninstalling it or contacting the manufacturer for help.
