Warranty ... when it comes to notebooks you want to ensure that you are able to easily access the warranty if needs be and preferrably access it locally.
I am also a stickler when it comes to buying brands of notebooks. I believe that it's better to buy a brand name notebook because you have a better chance of getting accessories and repair parts (after warranty) if required.

Overall this is a good notebook computer. I personally prefer a notebook to be thin, light and have 5hrs+ battery life so a Centrino based system would be my first choice. However, if a desktop replacement is what you're after, you have a very beautiful and powerful computer here.

For a laptop I advise you to stay with ATI or Nvidia video chipsets.
The perfomance is better.
You may also want to ensure its Linux friendly.
Like IBM, HP TOSHIBA and SONY
Dells suck for linux friendly.
Those who do not understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it poorly.
While I agree with some of your choices, I still think that Dell sell reliable laptops with excellent warranty.
yes... and daewoo makes good cars.

Haven't run linux on it yet. I am thinking Red Hat or the power of Yast -> SuSE
