Why is it that you despise certs so much? Which exam did you attempt and fail?

i thought one should build form the ground up
Maybe not all of them expire I will stand corrected on that.

There is nothing wrong with getting a certification while doing your degree or before entering a degree programme. However, if you think a certification is the end all of your education you don't understand the purpose of a degree. It is meant teach you critical thinking and not just the subject matter. You also learn about deadlines, working under pressure, teamwork (usually in your final year).

There are other threads on this topic matter so there is no need for me repeat what has already been said many times before.

Employers want degrees, certifications and experience so why not try to show up with at least 2 of the three.

Its not that i despise certs its just that when compared to a degree it really has no value. i can guarantee you that most of what you study for an exam you will forget the following day after the test but the lessons learned from a degree will stay with you forever. a cert will never teach you time-management, collaboration, teamwork, meeting deadlines, critical thinking, organization skills, research skills, etc etc,, if you can show me a cert that does the follow i will start studying tomorrow for it.

Would you like training material for these?

Its up to the user to retain what they learn same thing applies to degrees. If you want to use cram material that your business.

Not taking it personal...nor am I trying to change our mind about certs, its just that you seem to be so fixed on feed bad rep on certs without researching them. There are many certs out there and neither you nor I have seen them all.

If someone comes to the forum looking for information on certs, if you don't have anything to contribute to him/her finding the information whats the point of posting bashing certs? I mean its fine to state your opinion but why, even after your post has been replied to counter your claims "Crappy cert...not worth it...", why do you continue to post the same thing over and over. Even when people come to you with facts, you come with the same thing....ahh well so it go...

As ropy said don't know what cert you try and fail...or what you really have against certs but so it go...good luck with your organization though might send a certified ethical hacker to take down your site

Look at it this way Duster. Qualifications is a big word and like it or not Certs will always fall under that category therefore on my resume I would have Degree first, experience next, PLUS Certs. Compared with your Degree first, experience next, NO Certs
I strongly think I would be getting that promotion over you.
