Stealing is illegal and there's no logical reason one can give to justify such action. Also one can get into some serious trouble for admitting so on a public forum.

You should read this main thread: Software Piracy

We had a nice long debate about it. Lots of other threads discussing this as well. But let me quote 1 particular post for you.

My friend is in detention right now awaiting trial, because Kingfish (aka C&W) ratted him out to a few companies for downloading and distributing software. They now fully have the ability to 'listen' to your downloads (even torrent packets), so be careful. If you choose not to heed this warning: At least do your downloading on someone else's machine, then transfer it to your machine. 'They' will get you one way or another.

Here is a thread by one of our more prominent pirates: Who Here Actually Buy Software???
And to finish up your reading pleasure with this thread: How much do you steal?

The word discrete don't mean nothing to you ehh I've posted previously maybe in one of the threads that AA posted that I use to do this (when i just got my big bad 56k dialup). But eventually the I decided that its not worth the risk...Music, Movies, software ...when it lands u in jail and you talking with your cell buddy about what u in for...tell him software piracy and him go tell u hes in for rape or murder...you will know where u stand in the food chain

And you really need to stop advocating it...or dont dont matter to me, you want to label your self a thief fine by me.

So you would steal the 'free' mangoes in your neighbour's tree, just because it is out there and easy for you to take right there 'in your face'?

You have options. Let your common sense and decency tell you what is right from wrong. Or will you let other criminals lead you astray?

Ramesh you want tell me you never download an illegal software in your life? stop acting so holy. Trust me even at microsoft headquarters they have illegal copies of windows.

I'm not gonna play proud and say dont download copyrighted software, but what i supposed to do when its all in my face?
I really don't like promoting download illegal stuff still but these companies should make the software cheaper so you purchase it instead of getting a bootleg version. whats a broke man to do?

Have you ever thought about what goes into making that program, and may be thats why it cost so much?

When man greedy, them greedy. Have free lunch offered to them (free software, open source software), but they see another man eating $5000 plate a food (proprietary software costing nuff money) and want that instead, so they turn criminal to get it.

So what you saying duster, these big companies turning you into a criminal eh? Cause you have no choice, yeah?

Why not save some of the money you spend on food each day, and pay for the software? No? Rather another man go hungry instead for it? i.e. the programmer?

    Ahh bwoy.

Recapping regular excuses made by persons who steal software:
    - "Everyone else doing it." Putting blame on other thieves.
    - "It's all up in my face, no other choice but to take it." Putting blame on hackers.
    - "The software too expensive, so have to steal it." Putting blame on company.

Oh and most important reason, haven't seen anyone mention it yet:
    - "I don't care".
