You can try the generic drivers for the devices from the manufacturers website. So, if you have a Realtek soundcard, find the drivers that closely match the sound chipset the laptop has. I had the same problem with a Toshiba laptop I downgraded this week. It took hour of searching, installing and uninstalling before i got everything up and running again. None of the drivers I used I got from toshiba's website.
