    Default 3D Animation

Are there any facilities\Universities\Business\ that specialize in 3D animation. Very intersted in seeing what is out there. 3D Animation is prevelent in all the top 10 movies. Could be a great curriculum for a University or ILC(Internet Learning Center)....not hard either..just alot of time..which becomes "enjoyable" once you get over the first hump. Very rewarding...financially and feelings of worth.
    TIA

The Media Technology Institute offers training in Video Production and Digital Design. Animation is among the courses they teach.

Pepsi has a 3D design competiton out. Open to anyone I believe. You can use their tools or create your own 3D model\animation. I did a 20 minute animation - modeling whip up of a can I think they should use...I intend to detail more later.

most likely your gonna have to learn these stuff on your own if u plan to learn it in jamaica. What your talking about is hardcore graphics. Go for a computer science bachelors then a masters in the specific 3d area. The bachelors will help you to easily change when technology change, masters will refine it. This stuff needs high levels of maths too. You can start now by using tutorials and such. Get familiar with maya and or 3d studio max, max is used mainly for game development models.

Having in degree in Computing is a good thing,bu people tend to over look the art aspect of 3d animation, which is very, very important if you'd like to be an all round expert. You have to study and understand areas such perspective &atmosphere , light ,colour and value, textures, anatomy and proportions (human and animals).
I would recommend you to take classes at edna manley(painting and life drawing) --which im currently doing**
Studying traditional animation is also important. Knowing the basic principles of animation is key to making convincing animation.

simply knowing the software wont make you the best.

Knowing code is just a part of the process... and in somecases u dont even need to touch coding.

True I learned this the hard way, I can make models and scenes with 3Ds Max but I have trouble with organic and lighting effects, I can use the tools but to get the effect i want it can get complicated. I use video tutorials from CG Academy They where expensive as hell but worth it, teaches fundamentals to advanced techniques.

3D animation started out at as hobby now I'm considering a career change..
