    Default Digicel's new web site

Anyone browsing the Digicel Jamaica site today will see that they updated their web site to a new format. Gone now is the Check Your Bills option. But besides that it looks pretty good. The new site has only been officially launched for Jamaica but you can access the new sites for the other islands by going to www.digicel(islandname/abbreaviation).com/home

    for example:
going to www.digicelbarbados.com for example will bring up the old site,
going to www.digicelbarbados.com/home however will bring up the new site.

Sadly whilst the sites look different the information still isnt current. For example new models and rates and stuff are still missing. Such a shame, new look same old outdated information.

Very true Boo. How does prepaid roaming work? The network you are roaming on would need to be constantly contacting your home network to reduce your balance, etc.

Also if i remember correctly, according to Digicel short codes used in your home country won't work whilst roaming so how come they say can use *121*etc to top up and *120# to check your balance. The roaming network would need to recognize those codes.

Now the above all becomes irrelevant if you are roaming on a Digicel network within the region since all the codes, network information, etc would be the same. However what happens when roaming to the UK or USA.

Do they update these site seperately? Cuz they did an update to the Jamaican site some time ago. I had this as an end-note to one of my posts two days ago It may have been changed prior to that. And the www.digiceljamaica.com address takes you straight to the new site.

The second link must be sending you to their staging servers. Staging servers are used to test updates to a website before making it permanent/open to the general user base.

They haven't launched prepaid roaming to UK or USA as yet, only within the caribbean which is redundant cause they have a system where you can take any Digicel phone to any other Digicel network in the region and pay the local fees. This is possible cause Digicel is operating using one single MCC/MNC in all of it's networks

C&W has different MCC/MNC in every market.
