I can come in here and be objective.

I formatted my pc and put on vista 2 am today ... before 2pm i get 1 blue screen already. Everything takes 2-3 times longer .... my battery getting eaten for no apparent reason, and for what? i dont see the benefit, aero doesnt put me in a better mood, it doesnt do pancakes in the morning, not even fritters. I hate it. The windows update procedure is mega slow and is hit and miss.

hmm..decent specs what about your rating?

wonder if this goes back to the one of the complaints about the high system spec requirements.

yeah, vista is merciless. blackscreen on me one time so far. but i a giving it a trial run to see whats what. been 6 days now and i am still watching it. to be honest its not going on too badly, but i am still grudgeful of my little hard drive space, so it really wouldnt take much to make me convert.
    what made you upgrade?

Dell pointed out Microsoft's Vista mistakes, internal docs show
Late changes, confusing marketing, doubting vendors contributed to Vista stumbles
Last-minute changes to Windows Vista broke drivers, forcing key hardware vendors to "limp out with issues" when the operating system launched last year, according to a presentation by Dell Inc. that was made public this week.

"Late OS code changes broke drivers and applications, forcing key commodities to miss launch or limp out with issues," said one slide in a Dell presentation dated March 25, 2007, about two months after Vista's launch at retail and availability on new PCs.
Seems like some people at Dell had issues with Vista from early in the game.

Yes, you can do that but you must perform the task in dos envoroment by starting pc with cd boot option and xp disk. Choose to format the machine. Maybe you were trying to install xp from within the vista gui which would not work.
