I think we can all express our opinions but its all about elevation and education. If it cant be expressed in a manner that will warrant respect of that thought or idea then what's the point? Better you keep it in your head and I'm sorry, but saying something "sucks" neither elevates nor educates but may be entertains?

We are all big people, or we claim to be, so lets practice a little forum decorum

listen nestersan (the pig of techjamaica), I did not make any assumptions, I made a bet, a bet I can lose if I am wrong, not an assumption.

and yes, this thread has become somewhat entertaining, you know every now an again, bored come look what is going on in here, then move on.

I hardly post and with reason, I think this will be my last post for quite sometime.

    Hmmmm...

I guess this thread will be closed by the mods soon.

I have been using Windows for many, many years. I have never seen an edition of Windows generate so much controversy.

Strangely enough, i have seen this kind of discussion in other locations also. Usually they are not so heated, though.

A couple of points before the mods close the thread.

This has been the most controversial version of Windows that I have seen.

One unusual thing is that OEM suppliers are still selling systems with XP. They had intended to make the complete switch to Vista some time ago. Some people want Vista. Others just don't want it. So unusual.

I am used to such heated discussions when people argue over Linux versus Windows. So unusual to see it over different versions of Windows.

The third unusual thing is the fact that the use of alternative operating systems is increasing. I have seen a number of people on the forum advocating Macs and Linux systems.

I am posting this from my laptop running Ubuntu Linux 7. A customer of mine, who has been a Windows only person for many years, purchased his first Mac laptop earlier this year. When last I checked, he was quite happy with it.

Not sure what all of this means but it definitely marks a change. Previous versions of Windows were universally welcomed. They resulted in significant increases in hardware sales.

I am looking forward to see what happpens to Vista in the coming years. I am really interested to see how long OEM sales of Windows XP will continue.

Some people may like a 2006 Toyota Corolla because of it's new design or for the mere reason of going with the flow, while others may prefer a 1992 Toyota Corolla because it's body has proven to be stronger than that of the 2006 model, or that it suits their needs. Another set might not even like Toyota Corollas and may prefer a Toyota Hiace due to it being somewhat safer and more economical. Similarly, not everyone will like the same operating system and some might not even have a good reason for not liking one, but as the saying goes, "Every hoe have dem stick a bush." I think you all are arguing over nonsense with this whole Vista issue, cause no matter what, everyone is still going to use the OS they prefer, or think is the best for suiting their needs. This thread can be closed for all I care, cause it's causing too much controversy.

    Your last post....YAY....

    Rotfl....

    You will be sorely missed...

    Who ever u were...

Lol, u poor people, this topic is flamebait.. You can never have engaging debate when it comes to choices of things like OS or Consoles. Those things are all personal and very subjective. But Stick bruk in some peoples (censored) (not ears) and they are too retarded to let their hair down and toss some shrimp on this pointless barby.( SEE DJ_WOW)

Case in point. Every single post with topical non subjective info has so far been ignored, while the n00bs shout over the people trying to make sense.

    Great fun..

the biggest problem with Vista to me is .. in the case of OEM's they are selling Vista ona system that doesnt meet the recommended specs, so someone go dell or whereever and buy a laptop and when them have a problem with it a my ears them come make noise inna say how it new and so slow. Secondly, for the sheep of the computing world, familiarty is a major issue, i can be that 30 % of the ppl who using computers now started with XP, and dragging that famailiarty under from some of them foot is jsut somethign they never wanted. Thirdly is hardware support, i know friends who dash way perfectly good hardware or haffi hand it down to a younger sibling or cousin jsut casue them gone vista .. but microsoft said that "for ever dollar you (should have) spent on our OS requires 18$ on hardware ...

Dell had to put back XP, after they got hit with class action, cause all the Vista Ready PC's they sold could not run Vista properly...

ahh duster... what do you mean... "the same windows the "operating system" from microsoft? " Microsoft mek all windows...so i dont get your question... anyway I am talking about windows 2003/2000, I am currently working in a Windows 2000 and 2003 enviro, currently there primary Domain controller has not gone down for 2 years, the only time it did go down was due to hardware failure, try blame that on teh OS. I also maintain a Citrix farm which is installed on top of win2000 and 2003, the only reason these systems go down is due to hardware failure (custom made system, soon to be replaced by DELL blade servers)

if formatting a DC is your solution to your "windows problem" then you really need to take the time to learn the systems you working with. as it is...should be with any IT product you intend to use and support.
