Guide : Using HTC Pda Phone as GPRS Modem

[GPRS Internet]

This applies to HTC TyTN-TyTN II/Qtek 9100-9600/Hermes/Dopod/Cingular 8125-8525/Or Similar Device Running Windows Mobile® 6 Pro

Mobile OS = Windows Mobile® 6 Professional (Build 18125.0.4.2)
PC OS = Windows XP/Vista

Step 1
On your phone go to Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC


Step 2
Check "Enable Advanced network functionality"


Step 3
On your phone go to Start>Programs>Internet Sharing


Step 4
Select your Connection type and the GPRS account you want to use (I tested both Usb and Bluetooth)


Step 5
Click Connect (If using USB make sure you have connected to Pc via Active Sync)

Now at this point all drivers will be automatically installed, and within seconds the connection will be active and you can now browse on PC..

Step 6
Click Disconnect when your finished


Things to Note :
1. With reguards to Windows Mobile 5 i am not 100% sure if there was an Internet Sharing Option, so somebody can verify and test..
2. Please Ensure that you already have a GPRS enabled Sim card and your phone is properly configured to connect on the device itself

Thats about it ... very simple thing to do

ok mine dont work what it did was disconnect the windows mobile device centre then connect it back then give an error message saying device didnt respond. Ok it did work but because the connection was so slow i never realized it worked lol i wouldnt recommend this to my worst enemy lol.

Mine was ok doing lite browsing ..

Internet Sim you have? or normal pay per use Gprs sim ? and what OS you have on PC

Also ensure you have no bandwith Hungry apps running on Pc (P2p/etc)

Hooked up and working with Windows XP just the same ... Download or Install from CD Active Sync 4.5>Initialize and Active sync Connection, then follow the steps posted above
