Default Red Hat 7.2 and USB modem

I am using Red Hat 7.2 and have a D-Link DU-560M USB modem connected.

For the life of me I cannot get this modem to work under RH. I have built USB support into the kernel but that doesn't work. The modem lights do not even come on when RH is up. The modem apparently is not being initialized.

Currently, I use this modem on the same computer under Windows 2000 (dual boot) and it works okay. Is it possible that this USB modem can only run under Windows?

    Any ideas?

Let's troubleshoot one step at a time.

First, make sure that USB is actually functioning under RH.

Try another USB device under linux and see if it responds.
