Best wordprocessor for Linux?

I use openoffice to write my articles, it saves and open word9x/2k docs and is much faster than the older staroffice 5.x releases.
Also while the codebase is the same as staroffice6.0 , has one major advantage, it is free and opensource and recompilable on multiple platforms.
