PS3 Price drop confirmed!

Today, Sony confirmed to GameSpot that a fusillade of reports from US retailers had augured last week. As of July 9, the PlayStation 3's North American price point is going south. The next-generation console will cost $499 in the US and $549 in Canada, the same price as the discontinued 20GB model.

wow a price drop from 599 to 499 that 100 bucks was the problem.... don't these guys at sony talk to normal people the sweet spot for consoles is 199 the ps3 should have been designed to sell for 299 a max 350 but have you guys checked out the prices of some of these systems... 499,599,699,899 come on who can really buy that.

Having played all the consoles I'm still getting a WII ...... more fun to play!! Nintendo back on top!! Don't get me wrong the PS3 is a great console but over priced and not as much fun to play as the WII .... even with the 100 bucks price drop .
