Edge in Jamaica

My co-worker who has a blackberry and I went out to the country the other day and for a couple minutes while we were in Bull Bay on the St. Thomas side and when we were nearing Grants Pen in St Thomas he had Edge. He said the only other time he saw that was at the Miami airport while he was roaming. We thought it was an error but when we were on our way back we saw it agian.

How do u know when its edge?

normally you can see the connection strength on the phone display. You will see either GPRS or EDGE depending on what ur connection is.

C&W...which leads me to a question...can you pick up EDGE or GPRS from another network on blackberry or is it only from the home network?
