Currently using the Netspeak at the same time....hasn't gone down.....yet.
Bandwidth-wise those are FAR better stats and much more capable of sustaining [quality] VoIP calls. The next time you have Netspeak issues, do a speed test from Flow [and optionally Visualware] to see what you get. If they are as wretched as they were before then you'll have your answer.
Ok I got an email from J2 last night that said vandals had messed with one of their fibre cables so that may be what has been causing my problems (I hope). Should be fixed Sunday so I'll see how it goes.
do you need to open any ports on your router for netspeak?
seems to be the ports used by the system.....port 21846 => netspeak-is - NetSpeak Corp. Directory Services
port 21847 => netspeak-cs - NetSpeak Corp. Connection Services
port 21848 => netspeak-acd - NetSpeak Corp. Automatic Call Distribution
port 21849 => netspeak-cps - NetSpeak Corp. Credit Processing System

Deakie, you do realise that Netspeak is just a brand name Cable and Wireless created for its VoIP service and is not related to Netspeak Corp . Hence those ports mentioned bare no reference to C&W's Product. Since it is SIP based the only port required to be open on a router would be port 5060 => sip - SIP , but hey thanks for the link anyway as it has other interesting ports I was not aware of.
Edit: I just read another post of yours and realised that you are in the UK so you wouldn't necessarily know whats popping out here my apologies .

no worries.....just filling my mouth with my foot....
though you wish they would be more creative by actually inventing their own name >=)
Ok,
It seems the problem was one of the ethernet ports on my antenna. Switched to the other one and everything seems to be working fine now.
