Post The iPhone gets a facelift

The iPhone has not even been released to the public and already it's getting a facelift. Apple said that when it iPhone ships June 29, its battery will deliver eight hours of talk time, up from the five hours Apple said it would have in January. Apple also said that the entire top surface of the device, including the 3.5 inch display, has been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to resist scratches and to improve clarity. According to Apple research, four other recently released multifunction devices all have plastic screens: Nokia's N95, Samsung's BlackJack, RIM's BlackBerry Curve 8300, and the Palm Treo 750. "With eight hours of talk time and 24 hours of audio playback, iPhone's battery life is longer than any other smart phone and even longer than most MP3 players," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a release.

Talk about listening to the consumers...the BIG man just throw two (2) uppercut into the stomach of some neigh-sayers.

Doesn't Optical Quality Glass = Easy to Break?

i suppose sacrificing "easy to break" instead of "cheap plastic" makes for a better device in terms of visibility etc. however glass tends to attract more smudges/fingerprints etc but it will result in a better product overall i still believe.

From what i've heard it wont be easy to break.. not sure what type of glass they'll be using but i doubt its typical glass

The battery life's always good at first, then it goes downhill.

I could see one little drop and the Optical Quality Glass brakes.

Well I guess it is all dependent on the type of glass they are planning to use.

It might be the type that cannot break....I guess we will have to see how that looks when it release.

I don't like the concept of the iphone, but I'll love to get my hands on one to confirm or otherwise my beliefs.

    A rubber phone case

I'm sure the term glass doesn't mean mirror/cup glass. A phone is going to drop a few times during it's life.
