I would still however...would like to know how to install OS through a network. So you could still include that detail...I am sure there are others who would love to know how to do so.

Simple .. dump the XP Cd on your network .. or on another PC ... go the the PC you want to load it on .. run setup.exe from the folder you dump XP in .. boom

Oh...it sounds simple....so are you saying that...even if the pc does not have any form of OS installed....let say it is a brand new empty HDD.....in this case....I don't think it would work....am i right?

For it to work through a network....does the other pc have to have an OS installed...in order for you to replace the existing OS?

In this case you need a network bootdisk .... which will allow you to see the network and shared folders .. so you would tunnel to where you have the install filez and run setup.exe just the same ...

What I did when the cd drive went back on my bro's laptop was:
Network it with mine (xp home was on it and he wanted xp pro)
    then share my cd drive
then read my drive from his laptop.
This was done also to install the additional softwares.

It is impossible for XP to hold on 6 floppies. Those disk constitute the regular XP boot disks that you use to run repairs and start XP setup if your cdrom disk is not bootable. XP CANNOT be installed from the 6 floppies only.

the six floppies will allow you to boot and use networking to do install. there is another way if there is no working network adapter Install instructions
This will work with no cd or floppy

Maybe going through the trouble not going to be worth because the system specs going to limit XP severely.
