Default Budget GeForce 8 cards unveiled!

Nvidia jumped the gun on Windows Vista and DirectX10 when it launched the high-priced and equally high-performance GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS graphics processing units last year. While the ATI/AMD complex has yet to release a single DirectX 10 product, Nvidia pushes into budget territory with a trio of cards in the sub-$200 range. The GeForce 8600 GTS leads the pack, while the GeForce 8600 GT and GeForce 8500 GT follow behind. Expect to find all of the cards available in stores and online on April 17.

Yeah but benchmarks suck. And they cost more than their Geoforce 7 series counterparts. I'm pretty disappointed.

Affordable DX10: GeForce 8600 GTS and 8600 GT

An interesting quote from the Article

In the article - they compare these two (2) cards with the X1650XT and X1950 Pro.
We're starting to see a pattern: the Radeon X1950 Pro takes top honors in the "just over $200" price club, while the "mid-100s" price range is dominated by EVGA's GeForce 8600 GT. The Radeon X1650 XT is a serious "do not buy" at this price.
    BUT

Persons shouldn't be making "to buy" decisions off these benches right now cause there are no games made for DX10 to truely compare the performance. For me - DX10 is the future. If your next purchase is within the DX10 price range - WAIT!!

Just wait another month before making that purchase. Prices will fall and more DX10 games and game patches will be out.

The trouble with learning from experience
is that the test comes first and
    the lesson afterwards
