sometimes Cingular and Tmobile leave their very high-end phones unlocked since they know a lot of those buyers will travel. C&W adopted a similar practice here a while back with I believe either Blackberrys or the S/E P series.
either way, the Iphone will work here as long as its unlocked...just be prepared to pay the heavy initial price. $499 & $599 respectively depending on the hard drive size you choose.

p.s. those prices are considering a 2 year contract with Cingular

But wouldn't the problem be actually getting it unlocked tho? It is new so wouldn't there be some time before it actually gets cracked? Or is it not so?

As we been saying techoBoy there are some Phones that come from Cingular that you just pop the chip in and it works , no unlocking needed. so we were saying that we hope the Iphone is the same way. I know people who have not unlocked their phones and they work on digicel's network.

As long as the phone carries all 4 bands (850/900/1800/1900), " AND IT IS UNLOCKED", it will be able to operate on any network there is. Of this, i'm sure. Some phones (HIGH-END) may not require unlocking because it is already unlocked, this is done by some providers to facilitate their travelling customers who purchase these high end phones.

It will work, there is no doubt in my mind that it will. I have never come across a phone that cannot be unlocked. I'm sure this 1 aint no different, unless it isn't a phone. All that will be required to do the job is the correct Software and Cables.

What i'm saying is i know Phones that are still locked to the Cingular Network that still can work on the digicel network so maybe I won't have to unlock it at all....

I dont think you want to spend over $500 to findout if the phone will work here...

The Apple iPhone will be locked to Cinigular network...They have exclusive rights/access to sell this unit for the first 6 months of this deal...
