    Yeah yeah, old *** thread...
PSU. One very important element of a computer system 9especially one for gaming) that most people overlook. It plays a big part in Case cooling, and of couse, powers all the hardware inside. Having a cheap or under-powerful PSU can destroy the MoBo and everything else connected to it. Before you go grabbing the most powerful GPU and OC'ing your CPU, make damn sure the PSU is more than enough to power your needs, unless you want a cheap one taking down all your expensive components with it when it goes bad.

very true. I had 2 PSUs explode, yes literally exploded in a shower or fireworks, pretty colours and all, after I installed a new video card, and was a 700Watt PSU where all i needed was a 500W. It just wasnt designed to handle the load

dude - it depends on your needs - if ur looking to build a gaming rig on a budget u need at least

    1 - A Quad-Core Processor over 2.0 Ghz each core
    2 -4 GB's of RAM DDR2
3 -A graphics card with a dedicated 512MB DDR5 RAM or higher that is SLI or Crossfire Ready and an SLI or CrossfireX converter (for later on )
    4 -1TB of storage
5 -a decent ATX Board with enough heatsinks, PCI Slots and USB Ports
    6 - a 550W Power Supply

if you source the parts propperly you can build a monster for less than USD$800 bucks
