What should I look for in a Gaming rig?

Most of these recommendations for a gaming rig was made over two years ago and since it is a sticky, if i remember right, why not update your thoughs for a gaming rig...whether it be laptop of desktop, what are the specs for a great gaming rig?

the case not goin to make the games play better, thts a side point but not that important, in fact u dont even need a case, there is someone on this site that showed their sys and it had no case

that is true, but the way he worded it make it seem like as long as the case good it good.
