Now Zone Alarm seems to be becoming a resource hog as well.

I removed norton and install Kaspersky Anti virus. Seems to be better than norton because it detected a trojan that norton wasn't detecting

MANY persons here on this forum uses AVG. And we can attest to the fact, that it is a solid anti-virus and quiet affordable to boot.

There are many ways a virus can get around an anti-virus. But it doesn't mean that that anti-virus is crap. Your friend had a specific problem. It could be it was a new virus that they caught and no solution was found for it as yet. It could be one of those viruses that disable your anti-virus.

Then again, your anti-virus isn't 100% fool proof in protecting you from viruses. If you don't practice safe surfing and safe computing, you can get infected, no matter how many anti-virus, firewall, anti-spamware software you have installed.

We here (and many other sites reviews) recommend AVG as one of the anti-viruses you can use. Of course, there are many others to choose from as well.

I use AVG and it finds almost all virus. It has saved my laptop a few times from reinstalling.
