Default virus scan found wuauclt.exe as virus

firstly, I thought this was the auto update client/service for windows... and secondly i'm not sure if this thing is saying that this file is a virus, or if it was modified by a virus...

should I remove the file from the quarantine/virus vault, or trust the judgement of AVG???

and by the way, there's a virus encyclopedia feature, when I do a search, the program prefills the virus name as Win32/PEPatch but it doesn't find a description...

i'd just delete the file permanently. you really don't need to run the risk of further re-infection. In the worse case scenario, you can simply do a Windows repair and have the infected file replaced with a clean one.

Delete the file nonetheless, and then do an XP repair.

If its located in system or system32 folder it probably is a virus.
