We (Jamaica) have an opprtunity to follow suit. This article indicates an opportunity not only for the Govt. to save $$ going the open-source route, but also to showcase open-source at a high level project.
Which route do you think they'll take?

I know of at least 3 government related departments/offices using PHP now for various intranet related tasks. It tends to be a mixed environment of Windows and PHP rather than a pure open source solution.
Whether or not the managers at the top know it or not is a different story.
